I have a programming site and getting very less amount of traffice. Which is the best way to increase traffic?

Try doing one of them free advertising or submit it to a bunch of directories. It can help out quite a bit.

Word of Mouth is great. Try working on just having your sites in your signature, but don't submit to directory's that require an Image back. Sure, do ones that only require a text link, but those that require an image, and you end up with say 200+ images on your site, it makes your site a bit slow and you'll put visitors off.

There are many ways to increase traffic. My suggestion is getting one way backlinks. Submit your website to web directories as much as possible. You can submit yourself or you can contact me for doing so. I am submitting directories to various quality SEO friendly directories at cheap cost. Try various SEO techniques.

You can also try posting on various forums related to your niche and posting a link to examples on your site which will give you targetted traffic. At the same time do not spam any forums which will ban you on those forums. And also make sure whether the mods on those forums allows to post an external links.

These are the basic ideas to increase the traffic little bit.

Links in sigs on forums to do with your niche are a great way of increasing traffic as is of course joining the likes of adwords etc.

Yeah I would say join a lot of forums that are related to yours and are pretty big and *try* to be relatively active on them with your link in your signature.

Do you have any budget? If so you can place an ad in some high pr forum. Or perhaps you can make a video and upload it on youtube, dailymotion and so on. Viral marketing is also great.
