In a similar vein to SEO tips, thought people could post their PageRank tips here - it is a really complicated subject acutally, was reading through some information on it, hadn't realised it was as complex as it is - did you know that the average pagerank on the entire internet is 1?!? So if you have some useful tips, or just random trivia, post them here!!

I guess I should start. As you know, a backlink is esentially a 'vote' in PR terms. Each webpage has a vote, that is spread equally amongst all the pages it links to - that means that if you are on a page with 99 other links, you will only get 1/100 of the vote, but if you are on a page with only 4 links, you get a quater of the votes - something to think about :)

another tip. I call it overlinking:
Try to ost youre link everywhere: msn, you're pofilepage on msn, and all those other profile sites(like in a friends guestbook).
Linkparters are good to. But then:
What I see alot is for example website 1 and website 2 offer php scripts. They both have a link in each others linkpartner system.
Well website has good and nice template looking dynamic etc but doesn't have a really user friendly content. Website 2 on the other hand has a good content but the layout is a bit "crap". Most poeple follow the links on a linkpartner system to see witch site is better and beliee it or not the first thing a visitor does(indirect) is judging a website on its layout, if it sucks they then 1) give it a second chance and read the content 2) automatically klick the go back page to the previous site wich looked really nice.
So try making a good layout(think of for whom your website is) and the content to be user friendly.

Good tip - something I learnt the hard way a long time ago! It doesn't have to be the most amazing design in the world to at least get the visitor to read a paragraph or two, but it can't be complete s**te either!! :p
My next tip - offer something! Great example is IPB - Invision's site has a toolbar PR of 8 - all because every forum that is used powered by IPB has a link on it back to their site!! I'm not saying you have to go as far as writing a forum!! Just offer some scripts, or articles or tutorials with links back to your site - post them yourself on as many sites as possible (all links back to your site),plus, as people start using them, you get more links back = higher PR!
