There are some peple that pay for SEO assistance or that pay for links, inclusion in Search engines and so forth. IS this something you would do?

No way! I have gotten all my sites up to a PR4 in less than six months using practical information and not even advertising my sites. I would spend money on advertising well before I would spend it on SEO. The more visits you get the higher likelihood your sites "SEO" will rise.

I would spend money only to include in some vital search engines, to get more links and a very small amount for advertising. Just i would spend only a minor portions of money to the advertising and just concentrating on SEO would be better choice. Spending for Search Engine Optimization would be a better choice, instead of depending on other commodities.

Yes, SEO is important. It is not just about PR. Submitting you site to directories and social bookmarking sites is very important as far as traffic and PR are concerned. I have read some books on SEO and am going to optimize my sites on my own. But many experts believe submitting sites to search engines is a total waste of time.
