For those of you who are looking for free web hosting, you might want to try Xampp... It's a program that you install on XP, and it will let you have your own webserver, you will be able to maintain every aspect of it. Of course the set-up is a little tricky, but not that tricky...

Basically it is an Apache Webserver, compiled with PHP, MySQL, Perl (as an add-on if you want it), some other smaller databas programs, MercuryMail (an e-mail server),and much more. FTP, SSH....

The best part about it is that it's free. You don't have to pay anything for it... All you need is a domain, which you can buy off the internet. I would suggest Yahoo!, because they have good domain hosting software.

Of course the set-up is a little tricky, but not that tricky...

I use XAMPP for all my webdevelopment enviroment. I think XAMPP is one of the easiest to install. First, unzip to any of the directory and just run setup.bat or setup.sh. This script will automatically sets all the things needed. I am just wondering why you think XAMPP setup is tricky ? Which version of XAMPP you are using ?
