Hiring Content writers

We are all good at some things and not others. That is why we get programmers for the hard bits of java and designers when we really need the site to look professional. But does anyone hire content writers? Or has anyone tried to become one?

This is a fast growing area of e-commerce. You will be able to get content written quickly and (usually) grammatically. However there are some things I would warn against:

Firstly you often get what you pay for. Some times you may get lucky by finding someone who’s either desperate for some quick cash or is starting out. Most of the time however the people who will post on your forums for 4 cents a post will be working from (usually) India and will be working at speed. Thus the grammar and spelling may not be the best. You can also ask for specialists, but you better be prepared to pay.

If you find a good content writer – then keep hold of him or her!

I fully agree with you on this one. I have hired many content writers for different projects that I have done in the past, but most are not very good at all. Yet this isnt always the case

For an example, recently(last two weeks)I took on a guy that is great; seems to know the topic very well, and goes above and beyond my expectations. Needless to say, he is now a staff writer for two of my sites.

Research your content writers if you do decide to go this avenue and always start them with trial runs. Some times you just might find that diamond in the rough.

Good content writers or forum posters are very hard to find! Like they say, You pay peanuts, you get monkeys!

I hired a forum poster a while ago. I checked his posts and said to myself.."Wow, this is so good..and maybe too good to be true"! So, I used Google to check if the poster copied from another forum. And guess what? He did! It's so frustrating for me.

Well, it is indeed difficult to find very good writers but they are definetely not a scarce commodity. Pay good and research before you want to hire someone. You will always come across writers and content providers who are good and even exceptional. And that's because that has been their area of specialisation. But expertise comes with a price tag.

Well what i would say is properly the best thing to do is search for a good content writer then stick with them and people they will put forward for jobs, as then you will know what is going to be the outcome of any projects you feed to them and can remain stress free.

I understand where you are coming from. Hiring content writers can be a great asset and help boost your forum’s popularity. However, it seems that many content writers just rush their posts, putting little to no thought in them. They seem to take on many projects with little knowledge of a majority of the projects. It seems like people will do anything for a dollar these days! I have also noticed the lack of care for grammar, which is a huge pet peeve of mine! But you are all right; you get what you pay for!

I'm considering hiring a content writer or two for my web projects and was wondering how best to set the terms of employment.Should I hire on a per article basis or monthly salary, and how many 300-500 word articles a month could I expect to receive per content writer.It relies on what you want your employees do: write technical article or just general stuff. Sometimes it needs three months to write an article, sometimes it just takes half an hour.In my opinion, creative works can not be measured by quantity.
