I have been wondering if keyword density still exists or not, I remember when there was a big thing about making sure you have a certain keyword on your page a certain amount of times and that messes up the quality of the read a lot of the time I feel when they are writing from an SEO point of view as opposed to writing what they felt.
Are there people who still believe in this or is it something that has dies now?
I know that obviously you have to have keywords on your page but I am interested to know if people still worry about how many times it appears on a particular page.
I look forward to your replies!

Hi,
I have been using tools to determine keyword density and all I can gather is too many of the same word on the page is considered to be a spammy situation. Is that correct? I am totally confused on how to make keywords not be repetive, but still have them listed on my pages for my visitors to easily see. Like the words "email" "forum" "site" is used a lot on my site. I have email promotion referrals running, plus I have lots of areas where I offer my visitors to email me for more information. I believe that I am knocking myself out of showing up in the searches for email promotions, don't you? How many times is OK for repeating your target word?
PS. I was thinking of using some small sized images to reflect some of my words and that way I can jazz it up a little. Sound okay?
Well, I believe that keyword density should be there. It helps Search Engines view your website in a more specific manner, i.e. helping your SERP ( Search Engine Ranking Protocol ). Also, if you are using Google Adsense program, then it helps to target the ads increasing your click through rate.
But overdose of that can lead to ( as explained by gobbly ) as deteriorating of the quality of the article.
