I am interested in knowing your opinion on a number of top level domain issues. The first issue I would like to know about involves protecting your company name or a brand name. When you register a domain for your company or brand, do you register all of the top level domains, just .COM or more than one, but not all top level domains? Whenever I register a domain, I typically go after .COM, .NET, .ORG, and .BIZ. Do you go after popular foreign domains like .co.uk, etc.? Do you register variations of your name to protect your company or brand? For example if your company was widgetcompany.com, do you also register wigetcompany.com? Do you go after .tv or .info or .jobs?

Questions to Be Answered:
----------------------------------------------------
Do you register all of the top level domestic domains for your company? (EX: .COM, .NET, .ORG, .BIZ) If so which ones? Select from above mentioned for this category.
Do you register any of the specialty top level domains? (EX: .MOBI, .TV, .JOBS, .INFO, .NAME) If so which ones? Select from above mentioned for this category.
Do you register any of the popular top level domains for foreign countries? (EX: .CO.UK, .ME.UK, .ORG.UK) I think .ME.UK is supposed to be their .NET. Substitute .UK for your country of choice and you may also include .US in this category if you register it. I don't believe the foreign countries are using .BIZ yet.
Do you use private registration when you register a domain? An example of this would be GoDaddy's Domains By Proxy service. If you are unfamiliar with this service, this service is basically used to prevent your name from being displayed freely on the internet. I do use this service because I once received a solicitation on my cell phone from another web hosting company trying to get me to move my service from GoDaddy to their service.
Do you backorder domains such as .COM if it isn't available when you register your domain? In this case .NET is available but .COM isn't. You can use any variation of that idea for your answer.
One final note about this thread. Please elaborate on your answers if you don't mind to do so. Don't just say I use .COM only. Explain your answer and say why. I look forward to reading your answers.
Thanks,
