Microsoft already dropped further development to its original web authoring application called FrontPage. For license holders however, Microsoft's support is still in place.
In an attempt to come up with a competitive web authoring application, Microsoft launched Expression Web. Most of the good features of FrontPage are included in this application. Reviews revealed that this product can give Macromedia's Dreamwweaver a run for its money. It is far an improvement from Microsoft's FrontPage. The important features are there which are needed by web developers like support to standards, support for CSS, support for development tools and tight integration with Enterprise development tools such as Visual Studio.
One downside however which is understandable is support for PHP. We know the reason. PHP is an open source web script which is a competitor of Microsoft's ASP/.NET.
I wonder how was your experience with Web Expression in so far as web development is concerned.
