Yeah, w3schools is and will always be the best due to it being part of the leading part of the internet? World Web Constitution or something anyone know?
I find w3schools good too :)
Mostly though I have learnt from just needing specific things at the time and just looking it up on Google. I haven't ever learnt out of choice, always when I need to for something :)

I just google for whateever I am looking for, and usually there are a lot of good sites. Right now I am trying to learn PHP, and phpbuddy.com was a good site for me to help learn the basics.

Hello.
I think it really depends of what language you are looking to learn, for example i think, personally opinion that there are far more resources to learn PHP then there is ASP (.net)
Since im not sure what you are looking to learn i will reel a few links that i think you might find helpful.
PHP
http://www.phpfreaks.com
http://www.w3schools.com/php/php_intro.asp
I googled this one :) http://php.about.com/od/learnphp/p/learn_php_free.htm
ASP
http://www.w3schools.com/asp/default.asp
There is always the good ole pen and paper way.

w3schools is pretty good and the best way to learn programming language is to keep practising it . The more you practise , more strong you will get in the programming .

Yes, W3school, is probably the best website to learn web programming. There are some tutorials at pixel2life.com, but it all depends on whether or not you want to learn to code with tables or without. Im not a programmer myself(i know a little CSS/HTML, not much), but i've heard that table-less is easier to make changes to, and things like that.
I would also like to learn php, ive checked the website you mentioned, and it seems to be pretty easy. How much time did it take for you to learn php/mysql?

I agree with you. w3schools.com is the best place to start learning web technologies. I learned a lot from that website. Self learning is very much important now-a-days.
I don't like learning a book even though it gives better picture in many cases.

I started out using w3schools, but after i learn the basics from there i started checking out functions from http://php.net, which is very useful when you see a function, but are unaware of its capabilities.

What you really want to do is buy a beginner's book so that you fully understand everything. If you're looking to learn server-side programming, I highly recommend Aspress for Microsoft related languages, or Larry Ullman for all the languages that he's written books for. After you read a beginner's book, then you can begin to learn easier from others, as well as grasp the actual concept of programming itself, since it's useless to just copy and paste from tutorials.

I learned web programming at my current job. I started by reading many books and then got projects thrown at me that I would have to analyze. After that I have sort of built onto my experience by learning new things as I need them.
