I am planning to do marketing on social networkign site like myspace and friendster using profiles. What do you suggest , is it good enough to get good traffic?
Definitely. MySpace bulletins are great for traffic, but I guess it really depends on the type of site you're looking to promote.
Have you tried looking through the "Advertisements" section in the B/S/T forum at DigitalPoint? There are quite a few people offer bulletin services there.

Myspace was very good till few months ago but now its full with fake profiles. Now too many bots are there and they are killing myspace. Even I dont read advertisement I receive. So I am thinking about not to use it seriously.

neil, if you have any experience in this type of advertisement, it would be great if you could maybe write a simple tutorial on how to advertise on myspace.

Guys, I am a coder, and I have coded plenty of myspace programs. I can sell you a mass profile bulletin poster if anyone is interested. I think I know a somewhat good amount about Myspace.

Myspace is great for proxy sites or myspace resource sites.
But anything else and the users don't care. I tried once for a forum i had (closed now) and i had ONE visit, didn't even join.
I should probably try for my proxy sites, but not got round to finding somebody to send out the bulletin.
A good combination of Myspace, Digg & Del.Icio.Us will get the most traffic. I've used Digg & Del.Icio.Us just not myspace yet, I'm saving that for when i upgrade my VPS to cope with more visitors :p
Proxy sites and myspace related sites are doing great on most social networking sites because most users are young boys & girls and they don't have access to myspace in school, colleges and universities so they use proxy sites to bypass all the filters. And myspace sites do good because they are always looking for templates etc.

From my experience, most of the traffic from Social networking sites are not targetted. So, my suggestion is do not spend much time/money on that. But, it may be helpful for some niches.

Word-of-mouth is the BEST way, you must be someone ppl like most to more and more people to sites like that. Also members there must enJoy thei stay.
You must get into forums, chatrooms and chitchat a bit and it is very important that you must know some interesting subjects such as Movies,....blah blah blah....
Make yourself a HERO in Forums and let them contact you if they want to.
Show-off your good things. Invite them to your Group site. etc etc.

you could purchase advertising on stumbleupon
the advertising is kind of viral seen as you pay couple of hundred people to stumble your website then people naturally begin to stumble your website....this is a good way to start a word of mouth campain

Let's face it, the more people you know and can connect with the more successful you can be. Get known around the Internet as a knowledgeable, skilled and nice person.
